Napotec® Rotating Disk Material - Introduction to Molecular Sieves

2017.04.19 145

Qingdao Napotec® Environmental Protection Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Napotec® Environmental Protection) produced the first molecular sieve rotor product in China in March 2014. With its outstanding performance such as strong adsorption selectivity, high hydrophobicity, strong adsorption capacity, large adsorption capacity, and high temperature resistance, it has gained favor from many enterprises. Currently, Napotec® Environmental Protection has successfully provided waste gas treatment solutions for industries such as automotive painting, rubber, printing, and pharmaceuticals. The molecular sieve, as the core material in the rotor, is independently developed by Napotec® Environmental Protection. The following is an introduction to the molecular sieve.

I. What is a molecular sieve?

In 1932, McBain proposed the concept of "molecular sieve". A molecular sieve refers to a type of substance with uniform micropores, where the pore size is comparable to the size of a general molecule. Molecular sieves have a wide range of applications, including efficient desiccants, selective adsorbents, catalysts, and ion exchangers. However, the cost of synthesizing molecular sieves using chemical raw materials is very high.

Napotec® Environmental Protection selects molecular sieves with matching VOCs pore diameters for different customers. Currently, the molecular sieves are independently developed by Napotec® Environmental Protection. Under the same working conditions, the high adsorption capacity of the molecular sieves is three times that of other manufacturers' molecular sieves.

II. What are the uses of molecular sieves?

Adsorption function: The adsorption of molecular sieves originates from physical adsorption (van der Waals force). The internal crystal pores of molecular sieves have a strong polarity and Coulomb field, which shows a strong adsorption capacity for polar molecules (such as water) and unsaturated molecules.

Sieving function: The pore distribution of molecular sieves is very uniform. Only substances with a diameter smaller than the pore diameter can enter the internal crystal pores of the molecular sieve. Through the priority order of adsorption and size, different substances' molecules can be distinguished, so it is called "molecular sieve" in an image.

III. Advantages of Napotec® Molecular Sieves

As a global supplier of environmental protection equipment and core materials, Napotec® Environmental Protection uses molecular sieves as selective adsorbents and independently develops inorganic high-silicon-aluminum ratio molecular sieves, which have high hydrophobicity and non-flammable properties. The following is the morphology and characteristics of Napotec® Environmental Protection's molecular sieve crystal cells.

● The pore size is uniform

● The specific surface area is large, and the adsorption capacity is also large

● The pore diameters are regular and uniform

● Only molecules smaller than the pore diameter can pass through, resulting in strong selectivity

Napotec® molecular sieve rotor

Napotec® environmental protection uses special ceramic fiber paper, through the honeycomb body molding and processing technology, to make a honeycomb carrier, and then attaches Napotec® molecular sieves to the honeycomb carrier to form. The Napotec® molecular sieve rotor adsorbs and concentrates low-concentration, high-volume VOCs into high-concentration, low-volume VOCs, which is conducive to reducing the selection of subsequent thermal oxidation devices, thereby reducing the total investment in waste gas treatment and saving operating energy consumption. Currently, the Napotec® molecular sieve rotor has been widely used in industries such as vehicle and ship mechanical painting, semiconductor cleaning, printing drying, petroleum chemistry, synthetic resin, liquid crystal manufacturing, lithium battery coating, adhesive coating, etc., and the removal rate of VOCs reaches over 99%.
