Tangxia's two small furniture factories were shut down by court order for lacking permits and treatment facilities, resulting in direct pollutant discharge.

On June 27th, the Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau and the People's Court of Pengjiang District jointly conducted on-site law enforcement and took compulsory measures, ordering the two small furniture processing factories in Tongxia Town, Pengjiang District to immediately cease production and compelling the relevant enterprises to fulfill the administrative penalty decision.
The two furniture processing factories are "small, scattered, unregulated and polluting" enterprises.
The Xinghao Furniture Processing Shop in Pengjiang District is located in Tongxia Town, Pengjiang District. It is a small furniture processing factory. When the reporters followed the law enforcement officers from the Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau and Pengjiang District People's Court to the scene, the staff of the enterprise were wearing masks for furniture processing, and the air was filled with dust generated during the processing. The organic waste gas from the spray painting room was also directly discharged into the external environment. The law enforcement officers from the Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau said that this furniture processing factory is a "small, scattered, unregulated and polluting" enterprise, without a pollution discharge permit, and has not equipped any wastewater or waste gas treatment facilities. The direct discharge of pollutants has had a detrimental impact on the environment. Because the enterprise did not go through environmental impact assessment approval and environmental protection acceptance before commencing production, the Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau has legally imposed an administrative penalty and ordered it to immediately stop production. However, the enterprise's operator did not apply for administrative reconsideration, did not file a lawsuit, and did not fulfill the penalty decision. The Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau legally applied to the People's Court for compulsory execution. Yesterday, the law enforcement officers from Pengjiang District People's Court delivered the execution notice and other documents to the relevant responsible persons of the enterprise, requiring them to immediately stop production, pay fines and late fees, etc. If they still fail to fulfill the obligation within the deadline, Pengjiang District People's Court will take relevant compulsory enforcement measures such as cutting off water and electricity supplies. The enterprise immediately stopped the illegal pollution discharge behavior.
When arriving at the Xinyuanxuan Furniture Factory in Pengjiang District, the enterprise was not in operation at the scene. It was said that the enterprise, like the Xinghao Furniture Processing Shop, is a small furniture processing factory and a "small, scattered, unregulated and polluting" enterprise. It has no pollution discharge permit and has not equipped any wastewater or waste gas treatment facilities, and there is a phenomenon of direct pollutant discharge. The law enforcement officers from Pengjiang District People's Court also legally delivered the execution notice and other documents.
Tight enforcement of pollution control, air environment stabilizes and improves
According to the unified deployment of the provincial 2017-2018 air and water pollution prevention and control special inspection work, the provincial inspection team entered our city for inspection on June 1st this year. In this provincial special inspection, the inspection team required the illegal furniture processing factories in the surrounding area of Xiuchun Village in Tongxia Town to be lawfully investigated and banned. Taking this opportunity, the city focused on rectification, strengthened the joint law enforcement between the Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau and the People's Court of Pengjiang District, and imposed compulsory execution on the illegal enterprises that refused to comply with the environmental administrative penalty decisions such as production suspension. With "fast, strict and practical" iron-fist measures, a number of prominent environmental violations have been thoroughly rectified. As of June 25th, the provincial inspection team has conducted 130 on-site inspections, and our city has completed the rectification of 62 enterprises with environmental problems. The city has imposed penalties on 29 enterprises, ordered 86 enterprises to correct, ordered 13 enterprises to limit production, suspended 9 enterprises for rectification, banned and closed 13 enterprises, conducted 3 cases of sealing and seizing, transferred 4 cases of administrative detention to the public security organs and 1 case of suspected pollution crime. Through determination and heavy measures, the strict enforcement of pollution control has achieved tangible environmental governance results. Since June, the air quality in our city has reached 100% of the standard, and no pollution weather has occurred, and the air environment has stabilized and improved.
