Hebei Province has launched a special campaign to crack down on crimes related to air pollution.

Recently, the Public Security Department of Hebei Province, in collaboration with the procuratorate, courts and environmental protection departments, jointly launched a special campaign to crack down on crimes related to air pollution. They have been making full use of legal means and maintaining a strict crackdown and high-pressure stance.

It is known that from November last year to April this year, the Public Security Department of Hebei Province, the Provincial Environmental Protection Department, the Provincial People's Procuratorate, and the Provincial Higher People's Court jointly launched the "2016 Sword to Eliminate Pollution" special operation throughout the province, cracking down on all kinds of environmental crimes severely. During this period, the public security organs in the province successfully investigated and solved 528 cases of environmental crimes, arresting 1,132 suspects; they also dealt with a large number of public security cases and punished over 3,800 lawbreakers. The provincial procuratorial organs received and prosecuted 479 cases and 852 individuals, and supervised the transfer of cases by administrative authorities of 28 cases and 30 individuals. The court system of Hebei Province received 143 cases of environmental pollution crimes and sentenced 276 criminals. 

During the special operation, the environmental protection department of Hebei Province strengthened cooperation and coordination with the public security department, and simultaneously launched two "punches" of criminal justice and administrative law enforcement. According to the requirements of "no investigation will be allowed without finding out the truth, no investigation will be allowed without clarifying the facts, no handling will be allowed without punishment, no rectification will be allowed without improvement, and no improvement of the mechanism will be allowed without it", they carried out multiple special inspection actions. During the special operation period, the environmental protection department of Hebei Province imposed administrative penalties on 2,064 polluting enterprises, ordered 1,480 enterprises to rectify, placed 25 enterprises under supervision, exposed 47 cases through the media, and imposed a total fine of over 84 million yuan.
